About the Studio NW Worship Academy was founded in 2002. Since then, over 150 students of all ages have been trained to play both classical and contemporary music, including CCM, pop, rock, blues, and folk. My priority is to find music that interests you and equip you to share it in your community. My studio provides “jam session” opportunities so students learn to play in a group, and many have gone on to start their own bands or play music for their schools or churches.
In addition to the training in chord theory and improvisation needed to play pop, CCM, or contemporary worship music, all of my students work in a method book that teaches general music theory and note reading. Piano students may opt for a greater emphasis on classical piano, including classical performance competitions like the Oregon Junior Festival.
